The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abia State, Honorable Donatus Nwankpa says the judgment delivered by the state high court last week was against the previous administration and not the present one which was inaugurated just recently.

Speaking with journalists in Umuahia, Honorable Nwankpa also cited some discrepancies in the judgment, noting that he has however appealed the court verdict in respect to that fact that the order was not vacated. He added that he was not given a fair hearing which was why he sought a leave to enable the court reverse what he called injustice by vacating the order he made in error.

“The issue in contention is not of the Donatus Nwankpa that was inaugurated recently as the APC chairman of Abia state 2018, the issue is about the Donatus Nwankpa who was the chairman of APC in 2014 to May 2018 and there is nothing new that was gotten from that court except that the court refused to vacate the order they earlier made in respect to the previous administration. Besides, there was no order banning me from recontesting for election.

“The judge participated in fulfilling why said I have no confidence in him, having perceived his psychology, in respect to the matter, because I was not served, there was no order of substituted service to be served through proxy, there was no leave of the court to serve outside jurisdiction, the sheriff law was not obeyed which means the number of days I ought to have responded even if I was served wasn’t obeyed”, Hon. Nwankpa explained.

He reiterated that his lack of confidence in the judge was as a result of how the case has been handled all the while, having not been served any court ruling which according to him the judge admitted. He described this action to be against the sheriff law. He expressed regret that the court ruling which they attempted serving through the state publicity secretary of the party at the recently concluded national congress of the party was in the hand of his opponent whom he described as the proxy of the judge. He alleged that this is an indication that his opposition had a copy the ruling before the court could officially make its pronouncement.
