Former governor of Abia, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has reacted to the newly renovated Enyimba stadium of Aba by the Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for attempting to take credit for a work done by his administration between 1999 and 2017.
Speaking to newsmen in Ututu, Arochukwu LGA, during the flag-off of a 5Km road attracted by Chief Kalu in the community the former governor said:
“My work speaks for me, every Abian knows that. Everything in Enyimba Stadium was built by our administration. It’s evil for the present government to renovate the stadium and seek to take the credit for our work.
“It’s a normal practice globally to change the turf of every stadium at least once every five years and that does not translate to building a stadium.
Abians know I built two stadium for them, one in Umuahia and one in Aba and nobody can take the credit away from us, Kalu concluded.
Recall that Governor Ikpeazu had promised to renovate the Umuahia township stadium, also built by Orji Kalu assuring that he will do a lot more better job than what he did at Enyimba.
Ikpeazu, speaking to newsmen revealed that renovating Enyimba Stadium alone gulp the state not less than 600 million naira.
