NIGERIAN FEMALE WRESTLERS SHINE IN TUNISIA, RETAIN TOP SPOT IN AFRICA

The Nigerian female wrestlers has once again proved their mettle by retaining the African female Wrestling Championship in Hammamet, Tunisia winning 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals, while Tunisia placed second and Egypt third.

Blessing Oborududu, in one of the bouts, beat Anta Sambo of Senegal 10-0 in the finals to win the 4th Nigerian gold medal.

10 female wrestlers were featured at the African championships because Esther Kolawale (55kg) hurt her knee in training a day before the tournament and sat out.

2. Rosemary Nweke 53kg – bronze
3. Kolawale Esther 55kg – injury default
4. Odunayo Adekuoroye 57kg – Gold
5. Ifeoma Nwoye 59kg – bronze
6. Aminat Adeniyi – 62kg – Silver
7. Sunmisola Balogun 65kg – Gold
9. Hannah Reuben 72kg – Silver
10. Blessing Onyebuchi 76kg – Gold
