Poverty and restiveness occasioned by unemployment has become one of the most challenging issues confronting Governments at all levels.

Everyday our Universities Churn out graduates and there are no ready jobs for them.

Yearly teenagers pass out of secondary schools and most of them, not having parents or guardians who can fund the further academic pursuit are left to languish.

Except there is a calculated measure to equip these Young Minds with basic skills and trainings, which will make them self reliant, they may likely end up in one crime or the other.

Again philanthropists erroneously give financial grants to youths and women without properly training them. This monies will end up being used for frivolities because there are no waiting ventures or skills where the money will be channeled.

It is to this end that the Bende Local Government area under the leadership of Hon. Chief P. C Onyegbu has commenced the rehabilitation and equipping of the Bende Ultra Modern Skills Acquisition Center located inside the Local Government Headquarters to train the youths and women in various vocations and skills.

As at the time of this publication, clearing, cleaning up and perimeter fencing of the center is on going to secure the equipment to be installed in the center.

When completed, this center will serve as a breeding ground where the youths and women from the various communities in Bende LGA will be trained in various skills ranging from ICT, Confectionery, Paint Making, Aluminum Fabrication, Tiling, Tailoring, Shoe making, Carpentry etc.

This move is to properly engage the youths of the area and Channel their attention into productive ventures thereby curbing restiveness across the council.

The women who will be trained in this center will end up being a pillar of support to their families as they will be handed a means of livelihood as partners in the family unit.

Speaking to newsmen recently in the Council Headquarters, The Transition chairman Hon. Onyegbu urged the youths to be patients while the rehabilitation lasts as they will all have a sign of relief.

He thanked the Governor of Abia State Dr Victor Okezie Ikpeazu for creating an enabling environment for the youths to thrive and appointing youths into positions of trust.
