Amaechi Reveals The Cause of Insecurity And Insurgency In Nigeria


    The Honourable Minister of Transport, and former Governor of Rivers State His Excellency the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that the cause of insecurity and insurgency in Nigeria is as a result of hunger and poverty.

    The minister made this revelation yesterday in Uturu while laying the foundation stone for the Transport institute of the Gregory University Uturu on the occasion of their 8th Matriculation Ceremony.

    The minister also revealed plans by his ministry to localize the Railway Technology in Nigeria.

    According to the Minister, his ministry has done so much to revive the almost decayed railway lines which has seen the Trains return in the most glamorous and digitalized form, while plans are in top gear to make sure that Railway lines crisscrosses every part of the country.

    According to him, “the Chinese are constructing Railways and if we don’t localize the technology, when the finish and go, we will have a problem in our hands”.

    “That is why we are compelling them to domesticate the technology in Nigeria and they have agreed to establish the University of Transportation in Daura and Establish a company that will manufacture locomotives and Coaches in Ogun state.

    The minister reaffirmed his believe in a United and progressive Nigeria when he said ” some people have argued that we have done nothing in terms of transportation in the south, I don’t believe in North, South East or West, I believe in the country where I come from Nigeria.”

    He further revealed plans by the Federal Government to commence the Bonny/Portharcourt/Maiduguri Rail line and promised to collaborate with the Engineering Department of the University to ensure that the students receive the necessary tutelage needed to become experts in the Rail line technology.

    High point of the event is the conferment of a Chieftaincy Title as the Dike Di Oha Mma 1 of Uturu by the traditional Rulers in Uturu community.
