The Nigeria Association Of Road Transport Workers (NARTO), held their election and Inauguration of 16 state executives of NARTO, Abai state chapter on Monday March 23, 2020 at the legislative hall of the Umuahia north local government area secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.
The event witnessed the associations leadership from various part of the south east zone which inaugurated Deacon Amaobi Ohaeri as chairman, Chief Dr. Geofrey Chukwunyere-Deputy Chairman,Comrade Evidence O. Obi-secretary and other 13 members.
After the election, the new set of the associations executives were presented to the members for identification and objection, which gave all the elected officers scaled through with the members approval.
Speaking with Abia pulse NewsOnline was the newly elected chairman of NARTO, Abia state chapter, Deacon Amaobi Ohaeri, he said: “I thank that after the stress, we have come to the needful of today, it was successful, so am happy. As long as it is election issues, as long as you emerge the winner, you forget about election issues.
“We only ask for God’s grace so that we will get to where we are supposed to get to and I know that we have enormous task ahead of us”
Responding to how the association will help to tackle the coronavirus spread, the new chairman of NARTO said: “we are going to do our best on our parks and on our loading base to ensure that we help the government to do our own beat. We are not health practitioners but we will do our best to sensitize the passengers to the barest minimum”.
The newly elected secretary of the union, Evidence O. Obi also spoke to Abia pulse OnlineNews. He said “that he is highly delighted to God and we are expecting effective and efficient delivery in our service and then the general welfare of the state.
