A chieftain of The All Progressives Congress Chief Benjamin Apugo has, as part of measures to cushion the effects of coronavirus in Abia, extended palliatives to Amuzukwu community in Umuahia and other non indigens in the area.
Apugo, who was represented by his son Martins Apugo, while speaking to the community members, noted that he chose to embark on the distribution of food items because some of the villages in his community, especially the downtrodden find it difficult to feed themselves.
He, further stressed that the food items were crucial to reduce hunger among the vulnerable in view of the lockdown induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, adding The essence is to ensure that they survive this period, that is why he decided not to play politics with the palliatives.
He advised them to always follow all the guidelines in the fight against coronavirus, “so that together, we shall defeat the pandemic.”
Responding, the president general of community, Pascal Nweke, who spoke with newsmen shortly after receiving the items, corroborated Apugo’s views and prayed for God’s continued protection and divine rewards for him d his entire family.
