All is now set for the commissioning of ‘Abia Care Centre’, a 50-bed ultra-modern isolation centre with a functional molecular laboratory.
The Center was fully built and equipped by the Concerned Abia Professionals to provide health care for Abia residents
at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.
According to Charles Nwangwa, who conducted newsmen round the Center the Minister of State for Health, Senator Adeleke Mamora, will commission the Centre on Sunday, October 11, 2020, while Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, will be the chief host of the event.
He said the idea of setting up Abia Care Center was originated by Barr. Mrs. Ngozi Ekeoma, who felt there was a compelling need for Abians of goodwill to come together to set up an isolation center for the management of Covid-19 cases in Abia state.
According to him “Abia Care Center is not just an isolation ward,it is a fully equipped medical ward with molecular laboratory to ensure full diagnosis and treatment of persons infected with Covid-19.”
