Pastor Eze Nwachukwu, the immediate past state chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC, Ebonyi state and the Commissioner for inter-governmental affairs have lashed out on those petition writers against the state caretaker leadership of the party led by Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, noting that they are properly constituted and the party has remained peaceful and United under the current caretaker leadership.
He called on the public to disregard any petition from such characters as they have never at any point, a member of the party or have in any way, contributed to the progress of the party in the state.
In a chat with newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital.
He said, “ordinarily, I would have chose to keep quiet on the issues making round, considering the personalities, the image of the so called “concerned foundation members and stakeholders of APC who wrote trash to the national Secretariat. However, for the interest of the unsuspecting and innocent, teaming people who are interested in APC, who may not be fully aware of the true position of things in Ebonyi state.
“I have to put up a report on the reality as against the trash, like I said earlier, written to the national Secretariat through one Lawyer from Kogi State.
“First and foremost, the names mentioned there, as far as am concerned, having been the state secretary of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and merged and became a member of the transition committee of APC, elected in 2014 as Deputy State chairman and in 2015 became the acting State chairman till 2018 when the Congress elected me as the state chairman, until the 19th November, 2020 where the national Chairman led other team of the party, his colleagues like the governor of jigawa State, Governor of Niger State SA to the president on domestic and Attorney General of the federation who came to Ebonyi state in a well organized and peaceful meeting with my Exco, we resolved, reference to the agreement that has been in existence in the party. This agreement was duely signed on behalf of the party by an Ebonyian, a leader in this party, Dr ogbonnaya Onu, which stipulates in summary that when a governor is joining a party, that the structure of the party will be given to him. I know of this agreement, so when the Governor indicated interest of joining the party, I was happy including my executive and we made a press conference calling on him to come that we welcome him with our arms open signed by my good self, and until now, none of the members of the former state executive committee have come to oppose it and we wholeheartedly, decided to quit our offices because APC was formed on sacrifice, the leaders of the party, ANPP, ACN relinguished their office and formed a merger and same replicated itself here in Ebonyi and it was peaceful and we are enjoying the atmosphere peacefully.
“For some people to go behind and put up trash aimed at causing choas and unnecessary division and acrimony in the party is unfortunate and such people should be treated like common criminal because none of them can be more APC than myself.
“We have written a letter to that effect and will forward it to the national Secretariat on Monday.
“I didn’t see them holding any stake higher than me in Ebonyi and I occupied the position and wholeheartedly resigned with my executives and for them to go and be talking of “my led executive” that have been done with in November 2020 and here we are in February 2021 with useless write up. Are they crying for me? Have I hired them? Or has any of my former Executive hired them?.
“The only way is to discountenance them. Former president Obasanjo sometime said, “if anyone goes to oversee and said Nigeria is not good, the best answer is to ignor him”. So, I urge national and general public to ignor those people. They are not known to the party in any form. They have not contributed anything to building this party. In the first registration in 2014, I didn’t come across their names or their faces. In 2017, there was another registration, i never know those people or encounter them, even as we speak now.
“Above all, the coming of Engr David Nwaze Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi state into APC is a welcome development, we are breathing the breath of life, we can now enjoy unity in the party, we enjoy peace and commend the leadership of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, we give him every needed support. He has been carrying myself and my former executive along in all the party activities. we trust his leadership and we are comfortable with him. For example, this Christmas, through his office, the Governor gave us wonderful gifts, numerous gifts we never expected of or we had ever enjoyed before. He extended it not just to the state level alone but to the local government and Ward executive level. The 27 executive to all the 171wards in Ebonyi state. You can see how big the package is. The South has been given and there was no problem,The central and North would have been concluded by now if not the concoindence of this registration activities which hopefully, we have agreed with the state caretaker Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha to do it in between, and so many other dividends we have been enjoying.
“The 30 men nomination that was made for federal appointment, our people got our share and the entire local government are happy about the development.
No known face as stakeholders in APC has complained or will complain because there’s no reason to complain.
“Ebonyi is peaceful and one, we are brothers and bounded like our symbol the (broom) in APC, not even one person is outside. We are all together.
So, I call on the general public to ignore them and treat them like criminal”, he concluded.
Recall that a group of three people,Chief Silas Oketa, Hon Linus Nweze and Chief Ogbu Joseph Nweke, under the agies of “concerned Ebonyi State APC stakeholders and concerned foundation members” of APC in Ebonyi State, earlier petitioned the National Secretariat of APC, queering the authenticity of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha led Ebonyi state caretaker Executive, calling for recognition of the former Executive led by Eze Nwachukwu.
