According to the leader of the Group Chief Max Nduaguibe, former campaign DG of Dr Alex Otti, Abia is structured into two divides old Bende and Old Aba zones.

To them, albeit erroneously, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator T. A Orji are both from Old Bende Zone and as such the zone can be said to have ruled Abia for a straight 16 years, therefore they are demanding that another Ngwa man replaces Ikpeazu and rule for another 8 years.

They are advocating for power to shift to Umunneato zone comprising Isiala Ngwa North and South and Osisioma.

Reacting while fielding question in a Radio program Tuesday Morning, Hon Kalu said that those Ukwa Ngwa Elders are “being unfair to Governor Ikpeazu by pressuring him into doing the impossible.”

“All the past Governors who ruled the state made sure power rotated from one senatorial zone to the other.”

“Our leaders who ruled the state before now handed over based on Senatorial Zones. Dr. Orji Kalu took the turn of the North, finished and handed over to Senator T. A Orji from Central. Senator Orji consolidated on that by handing over to Dr. Ikpeazu from Abia South.”

“It is only right and just that power rotates to Abia North who had patiently waited for the 16 years.”

“Anyone doing anything otherwise is just being mischievous and I know Dr Ikpeazu is a very intelligent man, at the right time he will do the right thing.”
