Our office has received inquiries emanating from a press interview the minority leader of the Abia state house of assembly ,Hon chijioke Chukwu granted to selected media houses on Tuesday 6th July 2021, on the state of affairs in Abia State and the 2023 political permutations, alignments and realignments .
The said press interview has generated several and diverse interpretation hence this press release.
One of the issues that have continued to generate multiple interpretations was the reference to His Excellency Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D the Executive Governor of Abia State. The minority leader wish to state and very unequivocally that his references to the governor was references to the PDP led administration in Abia State and not the person of the governor as mischievously interpreted in some quarters.
Legally speaking, the governor is the embodiment of the state and what the government represents. The minority leader rather made a dispassionate critique and assessment audit of the various policies of Abia government including the recurrent and abysmal performances in policy formulation and implementation in all aspects particularly the cardinal objectives of the present government.
From education, health, job creation to environmental issues and critical infrastructure, his full intention and that of any Progressive Abian is to put the Government in the right perspective by bringing to the fore areas where there can be an improvement and make the Government perform optimally and not necessarily to denigrate, to say the least.
The perennial issue of nonpayment of salaries to staff of parastatals and education institutions in the state has become a signature project of the government and every progressive should speak up and encourage the Government to put the welfare of these workers and their families into consideration.
This is his position and the issues Hon Chukwu x-rayed. It has nothing personal to do with the Governor as mischief makers are trying so hard to twist the genuine constructive criticism of the minority leader.
