[Opinion]: Democracy Day, Abia Speaker “The Practicing Democrat” – Onyenucheya

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before unknown men” Proverbs 22:19 NKJV

My love for ndi Ikwuano/Umuahia will make me interpose on this to inform our people of the need to have a credible representative in 2023, that will tremenduosly attract dividends of democracy to our constituents.

With over 78 projects and empowerment programs centered more on infrastructural and human capital development, there is no better representative for Ikwuano/Umuahia than Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji. His works are evident and they speak volume for him as a practicing democrat.

The 7th Abia State House of Assembly is also the first House of Assembly in the entire federation to pass the Diaspora Commission Law thereby drawing global accolades also from The Presidency.

The Speaker also ensured that the House passed into Law the financial autonomy bills for both the legislature and the judiciary to further deepen practice of democratic principles in the state.

These and many more of such people-oriented Bills and Motions are why the 7th Abia State House of Assembly is called an “Assembly of Many Firsts”.

In recognition of these feats and several others, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji was honoured as winner of The Sun Newspaper Public Service Award 2020 at an epoch making event held on October 16, 2021; again on June 3, 2022 the Champion Newspapers Most Outstanding Speaker Of The Year Award was bestowed on Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji at the Expo Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

As a national icon and celebrated democrat, the outstanding performance of Ikuku Oma as he is fondly called cut across various sectors of the economy. If the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia truly want quality representation beyond legislating, getting our PVCs ready to vote the endless achiever should be our best move.

Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji is the most qualified candidate to represent the Ikwuano/Umuahia, we should move him to the green chamber for the good of our people.

  • Dr. Chukwuemeka Onyenucheya
